Fi was born in the year the genetic code was discovered and throughout her life watched medical research get closer and closer to controlling the genomics of cystic fibrosis so as to prevent the gene's ill effects.
We watched Fi fight those effects from before she was diagnosed and then receive fine medical care led by the Brompton and Harefield Hospitals, including developments supported by the CF Trust. She was enabled to live an amazingly full and long life, with a family of her own, caring professionally for others, writing to inform and entertain fans of the canals, and holding firmly to the faith of our parents and her husband John.
